Northeast Georgia Medical Center

Welcome to the world little Maverick! I met this little boy’s family during his maternity session. I knew he would be a tiny thing, when I saw how petite his mom was. She was still rocking high heels and off the runway gowns. Judging by the way the rest of his family looks, he’ll be turning heads as the days go by. Although Fresh 48s are low key with no dress code, I love how this family slayed their session.

Look at all the tiny features! Seeing older kids react to their new sibling is one of the sweetest things. It’s all the little questions they ask and the laughter that comes after some of the things they say. I remember when my baby brother was born. I was the happiest person in the whole world. At the time (1985) there was a popular life size doll called “my buddy” and I wanted one so bad. My parents never got it for me but once my brother was born, I didn’t want it anymore. He was the buddy I could’ve ever had. And I had a real life baby to play with and carry around.

Everytime I photograph Fresh 48s for families with older siblings, I relive my memories of my childhood. I get so excited for these kids knowing how much fun they will have with the baby and imagining all the things they will teach the babies. This big sister was so tender when she reached for her brother’s hand to hold it. She was slow moving around the crib and used a low voice around the baby. She’s almost the same age gap I had with my brother. She’s going to be a big help to their mom, if not the second mama.

Big brother here is a funny guy. I have to think hard to remember his name. During the maternity session, he wanted me to call him Lion and for this session he wanted me to call him King. He was moving all over the place, full of excitement and even helped me take a few photos. He liked checking in on me to see what I was doing with his new brother and making sure he was ok.

These photos below, are for the parents who still scrapbook or write in the baby books. I like to capture the full family along with each sibling with the baby. I love capturing each child taking their own time bonding with the new baby.

If you’re an expecting mom, I’d love to meet you and capture your memories. I’m working on a special baby package from pregnancy to birth and time at home with the baby. So stay tuned. I have two more sessions, with this mama and I should be ready to offer something by this summer. If not sooner.
