Sweet baby Carter was my first newborn session, in my new Flowery Branch studio. Carter was only eight weeks old when I worked with him. He’s one of the quietest babies I’ve ever been around. He’s the youngest of his siblings and they were each excited to have their photos made with their baby brother.
Carter’s big sister (in the middle) wasn’t sure of me, yet and kept her distance for a while. As long as her older siblings were doing a pose, she would do it, too, but it took some compromising from everyone to keep her still long enough.
After about fifteen minutes, little sister (on the right) warmed up to me after I got the tickle monster after her. Once we opened that can of worms, she was my little helper and stuck to me like glue. Carter’s other sister (on the left of this photo) watched everything I was doing with him. She sat back and observed like a quiet little mama.
Can I just tell you how excited I was to FINALLY be able to photograph an entire family in the studio? I’ve watched so many tutorials on how to do this, how to pose everyone, what angles to shoot at, etc. It is tricky and definitely an art that takes practice to master. I’m so lucky to have worked with these kids, who followed every prompt I gave them. They were so easy to work with.
Believe it or not, babies do so well when they’re wrapped tight like this. This is one of my wraps I use. There’s many other colors available as well. I just learned how to bundle the babies and leave the feet out. I think it’s so cute! Mamas, no need to bring clothes or anything from home. Aside from other little newborn outfits I have, I have several of these wraps I use for their sessions.
After I photograph the entire family, I like to move on to just mom with the baby and just dad with the baby. During our session, I’ve taken photos of the siblings together, the whole family and the baby with each parent, as well as some with the parents together. I’ve got a good routine down that I’m comfortable with and take enough photos to give you a complete gallery you’ll love.
I am so so happy with the way this turned out. I’ve been shopping around for moon and stars prompts for a while. I’m such a bargain shopper, I had to wait until I was happy with the price I was paying. Thank God for Temu! I’m addicted. This is one reason I pride myself on being a photographer for everyone. If the stores only sold merchandise to top paying shoppers, I wouldn’t have a thing. It’s so hard for me to let go of my money. So, if you’re like me and want a customized package, reach out and we’ll design a package you’re happy with.
This pose here, is one of the most popular among newborn photographers. It’s so adorable but I really struggle with this pose. I’m not sure if I like the nakedness of this pose. Although you can’t see anything, I’m still….ehhhh….about it. Parents love the wrinkles on the side and the baby feet sticking out but aside from what I mentioned earlier, this is when babies get cold and pee all over the bean bag. If they don’t pee, some will….do the other. The more I work with newborns, the more I lean toward fully clothed, lol. Ironically, this is my favorite pose from the entire session. So, who am I to complain????
